The conference will kick off at 8:50am on Wednesday 2 May, with a solid program including plenary and concurrent sessions through to about 5pm, when after a big day, delegates will have a chance to enjoy networking activities before the Conference Dinner which will be held onsite.
Day two of the conference will be another big day covering a range of key issues. The Conference BBQ that night offers delegates a chance to unwind and discuss the outcomes of the conference in a casual setting before making their journey home on Friday 4 May.
The conference will include several streamed sessions focusing on topic areas so a broad range of issues can be addressed. Most of the presentations at this conference are limited to twenty minutes, which provides for more dynamic information exchange and allows more question time in the sessions.

Speakers
The conference will feature over 60 speakers covering a wide variety of topics including the Clean Energy Act and waste management, waste to energy, innovation and technology, service and infrastructure procurement, food and garden organics, as well as a comprehensive coverage of waste infrastructure and services in the UK and Europe.
Prior to the conference, on Tuesday 1st May, the WMAA and Office of Environment and Heritage will run their own workshop and forums, a brief outline is below.
WMAA Specialty Workshop: Contracting and outsourcing - Pitfalls and opportunities
Tuesday 1st May 2012 1pm - 5pm
The Waste Management Association of Australia is pleased to offer this half day workshop on issues relating to contracting and outsourcing.
In waste management many local governments “contract” out many of the services they provide, and preparing brief or tender documents for these services can be challenging. Waste collection, landfill construction and facility design are all examples of projects which councils often turn to the private sector for.
With the introduction of a Carbon Tax the management of organics in particular will become a greater focus for local government, and organics collection contracts will require additional considerations to ensure that contract provisions support the stated performance objectives and to ensure potential liabilities are addressed.
This workshop will address key issues and experiences; and will provide opportunity for discussion of specific issues and challenges raised by workshop participants.
Delegates who register before 30th March will be sent a short questionnaire to provide their specific issues for consideration for inclusion in the day’s program.
WMAA Members $220 inc GST Non Members $275 inc GST. Price includes afternoon tea.
