The Coffs Coast Resource Recovery Park Tour
Join us for a comprehensive and insightful tour of one of the country’s most advanced waste recovery facilities!
Coffs Harbour City Council, Bellingen and Nambucca Shire Councils and Handybin Waste Services have formed a regional partnership known as Coffs Coast Waste Services for the collection of household waste. Residents of all three local government areas have three bins (green, yellow and red) plus a kitchen organics bin.
The Coffs Coast Resource Recovery Park, located on Englands Road, Coffs Harbour South, processes the three resource streams, with Materials Recovery Facility for recyclables and Biomass Facility for organics and residual waste. These facilities currently recover around 85% of the domestic waste stream.
The site tour will include review of the site Master Plan and development issues, the education centre and interpretive displays, the $7M Materials Recovery Facility which processes more than 230 tonnes per week, and the Biomass Facility. The newly commissioned $20M Biomass Facility will be the highlight of the tour, allowing delegates to see state-of-the-art technology processing waste to recover resources such as recyclables, compost, fuel pellets and soil enriching products.
