Waste Management
- Engaged by the Department of Environment and Conservation to develop an excel model and web based tool that guides Councils through the process of tendering for waste collection activities, by identifying all key steps, providing indicative timings, available resources and hints. The tool takes Councils through the following five stages: “Consultation and Planning”, “Prepare Tender Documents”, “Tendering”, “New Service Commissioning”, “Monitoring and Review”.
- Recently completed a project with Coffs Coast Councils (i.e. Coffs Harbour, Nambucca and Bellingen) which successfully went from waste strategy development to tendering and awarding a contract for waste processing infrastructure that utilizes AWT for the coming twenty (20) years. The project involved a cost benefit assessment of the various options facing Coffs Harbour and its neighbouring Councils, Bellingen Shire Council and Nambucca Council.
- Engaged by the South West Sydney Councils (Campbelltown City Council, Camden Council, Wollondilly Shire Council and Wingecarribee Shire Council) to develop tender documents for the receival and processing of all Council owned waste, including mixed solid waste, recyclables, organics and non putrescible materials.
- Completion of studies into the full cost of waste disposal in eight regional Councils on the Mid North Coast of NSW. The studies considered all past, current and future costs to calculate the current annual and cost/tonne for waste disposal. These studies have provided the Councils with information to assist in setting gate fees, reviewing the Domestic Waste Management Charge, budgeting for future outlays associated with site closure and rehabilitation and justifying investment in resource recovery initiatives.
- Design and implementation of a schools recycling program for Councils on the Mid North Coast. This practical program is cost effective for Councils, as it involves an extension of existing recycling collection services to schools within the LGA and has long lasting benefits through educating children on the benefits of recycling.
- Engaged by the Mid North Coast Area Health Service to develop a five year waste management plan (WMP). This WMP provides practical initiatives that will deliver improved environmental performance and cost savings for the facilities. The WMP was designed to provide guidance to all facilities irrespective of their current performance, size, resource level and location.
