About the Program
The conference program is designed around the central themes of 'Reflect, Celebrate, Connect and Shape'. It provides opportunities for active participation as well as traditional platform presentations. Workshops, the Conference Debate and the Open Space Sessions are some of the key features, while during the breaks the options include viewing the Trade Exhibition or Resources Wall, contributing to the Conference Log, or participating in Reflection & Celebration activities.
A broad range of issues will be covered with concurrent sessions designed around specific issues or for specific industry sectors. Examples of issue specific sessions are ‘Transformative Learning’ and Evaluation & Reflection’, while the schools and business and industry sectors have targeted sessions on day one and day two respectively.

Field Trips
See first-hand some of the best examples of sustainable management in the greater Melbourne area, with each trip focussing on a different theme - sustainable Culture and Tourism, Sustainable Water, and Sustainable Cities and Business. These full-day trips cost just $110 per person and include delicious and wholesome morning and afternoon tea and lunch.
Conference Debate
On the topic "Should Behaviour Change be a goal of Environmental Education?", this debate will be chaired by John Fien of RMIT.
This will be a debate with a difference – a problem solving debate – not a competitive one – complete with audience participation! The aim is to develop a common language related to behaviour change for practitioners, and to refine the theories of behaviour change related to Learning for Sustainability.
Reflection & Celebration Activities
These optional activities will be held in the morning and afternoon tea breaks and provide and opportunity for delegates to take some ‘time out’ and let all the information soak in… The proposed activities include ‘calm and creative meditation’, ‘sustaining ourselves’ and ‘sense of place’…
Sustainable Schooling Sessions on Day One
Designed specifically to allow teachers and lecturers to get the most out of one day’s attendance, these sessions include ten presentations on a wide variety of issues pertinent to sustainable schooling. In the morning the focus is on Case Studies while in the afternoon presentations detail Programs and Resources.
Sustainable Business & Industry Sessions on Day Two
With presentations on a variety of key issues such as leadership, innovation, corporate social responsibility and communication these two sessions have been designed to give business and industry practitioners, managers and educators insight into how sustainability can be incorporated into their activities.
Information Sharing Opportunities
As well as all the information from presentations and workshops, debates, open space sessions, and the exhibition area, there will be provision for delegates to share information amongst themselves through the Resources Wall and the Conference Log!
The Resources Wall will include extensive wall space and bench area for delegates to put information and educational materials on display and for others to take for reference. This area is available to all delegates but is not intended for company promotional material.
The Conference Log is a large open message-board area for information sharing through continuos message strings or creative sketch, statement or anything else! Based on the ‘Blog’ (web log) concept, keeping up with our ‘Clog’ should keep everyone on their toes…
