Learning for Sustainability
Sustainability is the term used to describe environmental, social and economic considerations incorporated into current lifestyles without compromising the needs or lifestyle comfort of future generations.
The role of education in guiding a more sustainable way of living now and into the future is crucial in the creation of positive behavourial shifts in the way the community, business and government integrates sustainability actions and considerations.
‘Learning for Sustainability’ is a short-hand term used as an overarching theme to bring about positive change based upon a range of technical, scientific and social programs.

Registration Costs
The registration costs (inc. GST) are:
- 2 day conference registration* $575 (Thursday and Friday)
- 1 day registration* $350 (either Thursday or Friday)
- Conference dinner $88 (Thursday evening)
- Field trip tours $110 each (Wednesday 2nd)
Members of the Australian Association for Environmental Education (AAEE), the Association for Waste and Resource Education (AWARE), and the Victorian Association for Environmental (VAEE) are entitled to a 15% discount on both the one and two day registration packages. Conference Speakers are also entitled to 15% discount.
* Registration includes attendance fee, lunches, morning and afternoon teas, welcome reception drinks and conference proceedings on CD-ROM.
Accommodation
Special conference rates have been arranged for delegates for the following two room types at Rydges Riverwalk Hotel:
- Courtyard Rooms $159 (single) or $176 (double/twin) per night - All courtyard rooms have balconies overlooking the hotel’s central courtyard. They consist of one queen size bed and a fold out sofa bed. Alternatively, these rooms can be adapted for twin share with two single beds. Hot Breakfast (one for single, two for double and twin) are included.
- Townhouse Apartments $234 per night - Townhouse apartments have two levels, each with fully equipped kitchen, lounge/dining area, washing machine, clothes dryer and two large balconies. They consist of one queen size bed in the master bedroom and two singles in the spare bedroom or you can have a queen size bed in each bedroom. Two Full Hot Breakfasts per day are included.
